SlideJob-Bandit's Track guides DTRSC
My DTRSC Track Guide
Dodge wetness; 47-48 best
Dodge is a very hard track to find the correct line any lift points. The basic concept is that you are against the wall on the straights, enter the corner as low as possible lift for a brief second once your 3/4th of the way into the turn, drift up to the midpoint in the middle of the turn, and exit as low as possible without hitting the berm or the wall on the straight. The key to the angle of turn entry is to start turning a tad past the start finish line and half way on the back shoot. This way you carry full speed into the middle of the turn. If you lift too early, you will drift sideways, and if you round off the turn by turning too late you will not drift high enough and almost always hit the berm coming out of the turn.
Eagle wetness; 47-48 best
Eagle is another track I can’t stand and don’t race very often. Turn one and two are basic and should be run just outside the berm. Wide enough to keep full gas, but close enough to the berm to get traction. The whole key to a fast lap is turn 3. coming out of turn 2 get against the wall. I brake and slide the car as close to the berm as I can. If you do it correctly, the car will slide tightly into the turn and will aim straight toward where the start finish line meets the wall. You will notice that in turn 3 you will want to keep the car in the dark dirt next to the berm. Then drive the car to the wall and get the left rear on the little berm (do not hit wall) to help you drive deep into turn 2. Once again, drive it deep. Lift after the start of the turn, if you lift too early your car will oversteer when you get on the gas. This track is very similar to Tally. In fact, I use my tally setup here with slight changes.
Ok now to tracks I enjoy;
Eldora, Eldo, Chit Hole whatever you want to call it. wetness; 47-48 best
Eldo is basic! Probably the most basic track in the game. High on straights, low in turns. Two things are key here though. First, never slide the car! Wheel spin is a no no! Second turn 1 and3 are key. Start turning at the start finish line and hit the apex of the turn. The car will drift a tad, but if you enter correctly, you will not drift up at all. On the straights, it is good to get up high, but you do not have to be right on the wall. I try and keep the Right rear right on the dark dirt on the high side, and the Left front in the dark in the turns.
Note: This is a Full gas track. Only time I ever lift is if I go into a turn to late and have to lift to keep car down on the dark.
Tip; You can keep the car from sliding if you are very gentle with the wheel, No sudden jerks or movements.
Swing Lap; For those that seek some adventure, you can ride the rim in turn 3-4 and get some speed for the next lap.
Gas City, wetness; 24 wet best
Gas is another fun track with clean racers. The normal high on straights low in turns. Unlike most tracks, I slide my car around the turns. However, the key to the slide is this. At the end of the slide, the car must be pointed at the start finish line where it meets the wall. I brake a tad at the end of the straight to turn the car. I get on the gas right away. As you get better, you will get a feel as to how long to stay off the gas and how long to keep on the gas on the straight. Tip; I drive straight along the wall. I do not turn til I’m almost at the end of the straight. When I brake quickly, it will turn the car for me. This takes some getting used to because most tracks you turn early. However, Gas and Kokomo are the same.
Hagger, wetness; 47-48 best
Hagger is fast but you have to be calm. The normal high on straight low in turns. The key with hagger is going into the turn. I have two options for you here. I use both methods of sliding around turn, and keeping the car straight. I would get used to keeping the car straight first. No wheel spin in the corner and keep the car smooth in turn. Depending on your setup, I use the track as a marker for lifting the gas. On the straight, I am up against the wall. I start to lean the car towards the turn at a little past the start finish line. I lift when the left front rolls over the left side of the dark/light dirt on the highside when driving away from the wall. If you do this correctly, you will carry speed in to the turn and will keep the car as straight as possible. Then, pump the gas three times through the turn. The third pump should be right at the middle point in the turn. Keep the car low coming out of the turn. Once again, aim for where the start finish line meets the wall.
The second method I use is to slide the car around the turn. Although most people try this method and fail to hit fast lap times, it is indeed faster with the right line and a setup made with a ton of bite. The line is almost the same except you do not need to be as high on straight, and do not pump gas. Remember, the setup is key for sliding the car. If you are not good at making your own setups I would stick with keeping the car straight.
Huset, wetness; 47-48 best
Fast and long track. The hardest part is going into the turns 1 and 3. Start turning half way through the straight and do not lift until you are way past the apex of the turn. You should be as close to the inside wall as you can! Lift and drift up in the middle of the turn. Gas out of the turn keeping the car straight as you can. The exit should be as close to the berm as you can get. From the mid point in the turn you should see a straight line from there to the start finish line meets the wall. In effect, you diamond the track much like dodge. Some people drive this track fill gas, However, I have been more consistent lifting and pumping the gas. For me it’s just a feel.
Knox, wetness; 47-48 best
No tricks here. Gas the whole track. As with all the turns, going into the turn is key. I stay high on straight. The corner in 1 and 3 should be cut below the dark dirt. Then drift up so that the right rear is just on the dirt. Then drift up to the wall on the straight. Like Eldora keep the car straight. For the most part, once you know the line the setup is key to speed.
Tip; If you drift up to high you either did not cut the corner enough or cut it too much. If you lift in the turn, you are usually going to hit the wall. I have spent years on my setup here. A good set up will allow you to ride the high side without being sucked up into the wall.
Kokomo, wetness; 47-48 best
No mystery here, Same as Gas City. Keep it close it the inside wall in turns and wide in straights. Brake to make the car turn, then gas it up to the wall. Setup is key. Too much slide and the car will not dart down the straight, too little slide and the car will be too tight and you will loose speed in the corner.
Lerner, wetness; 47-48 best
Learner combines several lines and is a 4 turn track but drives like a 3 turn D oval.
Turn 1 is key to the fastest laps. On the wall on the straight at the start finish line. Brake to slide the the car into turn one. Do not slide the car too much. Keep the car as straight as you can. I know that this seams to be contradictory, but you can over do the slide. Keep the car very low in turn 1. Drive up onto the berm on the high side. All four wheels should be in the dark dirt. Two ways to take turn 3. I keep full gas, however that requires that you turn into turn 3 perfectly and wheel the car around the turn keeping the car low in the middle of the turn, and exit low drifting up to the wall. The second option is to lift slightly going into turn 3 and let the car settle in the line then gas out( Slower but more consistent). This is one track that you must get as close to the wall as you can, but be warned!! Right before the start finish line if you are right on the wall, the wall has a section that sticks out slightly and will hook you into a 360. In a nutshell turn one is key and should be driven the same way as Tally turn one.
Lincoln, wetness; 47-48 best
Lincoln will test your accuracy. You have to drive in very close proximity to the inside wall going into and exiting the turns, and somewhat close to the wall on the straight. The key to speed here is when you lift. Do not lift off the gas until you are well into the turn. If you lift too early, you will drift up to far, and if you lift too late, you will have to stay off the gas longer slowing you down. I want to make this a little more clear. When I say don’t lift off the gas. I really mean do not lift! Drive it in to the turn. I try to lift just before the half way mark in the turn. Only lift for a brief second. In fact, it is almost a burp. This is the same with Husets, Dodge, and Williams.
Manzy, wetness; 47-48 best
Manzy is basically a two turn track. The key turn one is to tap the break and slide the car around the turn. Keep the nose of the car as close as you can get it to the wall. When done properly you should be pointed parallel with the inside wall coming out of the turn. However, the point at witch you apply the brake is key. To late and you will drift up high coming out of the turn, and to early you will have to keep off the gas and let the car drift to the line. Timing is key! Exiting turn 1(1 and 2) is low and in the dark dirt and about a half a car width away from the inside wall. Turn 2(3-4) is another tough one. On the back straight you are low unlike all the other tracks. The key here is to keep the car straight around the turn. Use the gas here to turn the car. If your set up is correct, when you lift the car should turn left. Lift at a point that the car huggs the inside wall and drive it up to the wall towards the start finish. Do not get right next to the wall heading toward the start finish line. Keep the right side tires right on the dark/light dirt line. Tip; I brake as I cross the start finish line. This track tests your ability to slide a turn and to keep straight in a turn.
Musky, wetness; 47-48 best
Basic and the same as Eldo. Key notes are this. On the straight, you should be right on the light/ dark line. In addition, in the corner you should be just a tad outside the dark dirt on the inside. Some drive this track and lift in the turns. However, I have has success with full gas and lifting only when I was off the line just a tad. Either way, you would only lift for a burp. Tip; Do not let the car slide at all. Same as Eldo.
Pike, wetness; 47-48 best
Pike is a hard track to drive consistently. Going in to the turns from the wide straight is the inconsistent part. You ride along the wall on the grass on the straights. Then ¾ of the way down you start to make the turn onto the track surface. I lift when the left front tire is just about to roll over the dark dirt on the inside. Do not drift up and do not slide the car at all! Burp the gas several times to keep the speed up in turns. Warning!! On the front straight, get to close to the wall and get black flagged. The most common error I see guys make here is they do not go into the turn at the proper angle. Most people are too tight an angle and have to slide the car. Then if the person is going in at the right angle, he can’t use the gas to keep the car speed up in turn and ends up being to high in turn then cuts the exit corner short and runs over inside berm. So again, get the angle correct and pump the gas.
Santa Maria, wetness; 47-48 best
Ahhh, my home track. Santa is fast and tight. A good setup here is a MUST. Especially if you are racing with a full house. Basic lines are the normal high/ low. Again, entry angle and gas are key to a hot lap. I drive the car from the wall into the turn at a straight angle from a tad past the start finish line. I lift for a moment and let the car settle til about the mid point in the turn. Then gas it out of the turn hard to the wall. If you are doing it correctly, you car will stick like glue and the left side tires are always in the dark dirt. If you lift too early, you will usually over steer and have to lift coming out of the corner. In addition, if you go in to deep you will have to wait a little longer before you can get on the gas and loose time. Keep the car straight; when you lift, the car should turn with the proper setup. Do not slide the car!
Silver, wetness; 47-48 best however 36 wet works too!
Silver is a small track but very forgiving. The correct line is high and low, but can be run two ways. The first is the method I would use. At the start of the race, if you are racing by yourself, you should notice you track position on the track. That is as high as you should get on the straights. The lift point is when the left front tire approaches the dark inside dirt. When you lift, the car should turn itself. Pump the gas a few times quickly and gas it out of the turn. Note; this method is for keeping the car straight in turns with only a tad of a slide.
Second, you can drive a little higher on the straight and slide the car around the corner. Note; at the exit of the turns, the car must be pointed straight towards where the start finish line meets the wall. Going into the turn, you lift quickly and then gas it all the way out of the turn. The mistake people make using this method is that they start sliding and lift to control the angle of the car. If you are using this method, entry angle is key as well as a great setup. The same setup can be used for both lines; however, .05 less gear is better for the longer line.
S. Oregon wetness; 47-48 best
Ive seen many lines on this track. Some note worthy and some just plain ugly. You should not drive on the grass! I see people do this from time to time and it always leads to hitting the inside wall in turn 3. The keys to this track are simple. Brake and slide turn 1-2. Make sure that you are as close to the inside wall as possible without hitting it. Make sure that you exit turn 2 parallel with the wall and follow that line around the d shaped bend. Going into turn 3 is the same as Manzy, But has a trick. In the back straight riding the line with the right side tires just inside the grey dirt. Drive along that line, and as you get towards the middle of the turn you will see the following. On the track, you will notice a very light patch of dirt that bends to the left towards the turn 3 wall. You should follow the line to the light patch and lift at this point. The car will turn and drift out until your right rear tire almost touches the dark/ light line on the outside of the track. Pump the gas from the time you reach that point all the way to the mid point on turn 3-4, at witch you should be fill gas heading towards the wall. You should be as close to the wall with out sliding in turn 3-4. (same as Manzy). The wider angle allows you to carry more speed without sliding the car at all. The main mistake I see here are people drift way to wide in turn 3 because the enter at too shallow an angle. Most of the time when I race I can pass on the inside or outside here because people do not carry the speed well in this turn. Tip; I tap the brake when my rear wheels cross the start finish line turning the car for turn 1-2.
Tally, wetness; 47-48 best
Tally is the same as Eagle except it is a much smaller track. As wide as you can get on the two straights, brake slide turn 1-2, and keep the car straight in turn 3-4.
I use the start finish line as a brake point for turn 1 and 2. Make sure you are as low as you can get on the track without riding up on the berm. On the back straight, ride along the wall and turn into 3 and lift when the left front tire approaches the dark dirt. Keep the car straight all around the corner and gently pump the gas thought the middle of turn. Then, gas it back to the start finish line. Tip; if you are too loose coming out of turn 2 try turning to the right a little earlier in the slide. I get back on the gas as soon as the left front is at the midpoint of turn 1-2.
Terre, wetness; 47-48 best
Terra is no different then Eldo, Musky, and Hagger. However, you pump the gas from the start of the turn through the middle. That is the only difference. The same lines apply. High on straight, lift when the left front approaches the dark/light inside line, pump gas around corner keeping the car straight, then gas it home. I start my entry angle at the start finish line as well. Key tip; Less is more! Easy on the gas in the corners.
Wayne, wetness; 47-48 best
Wayne is a fun little track. You run high on straight low in turns with no slide. The lift points are deep in the turn like Dodge, Hustes, Lincoln, and Grove. In the turn, pump( 3 times) the gas through midway, and gas it home. I start my turn at the start finish line. If you want to be fast here you must keep the car as straight as you can and as low as possible in turns.
Williams, wetness; 47-48 best
Williams is blast to run with several people. The line is key. Run the wall on the straights, go into turn 1-3 angled straight from the middle of the straightaway. Lift after you are completely in the turn. The car will turn when you lift and drift up to the light/dark line on the high side and drive it out as low as you can. On this track, when I say drift I really mean drift not slide. All 4 wheels will drift up. If you hit the inside wall going in, and the inside wall going out…Welcome to the club! That is a great start and you have the right idea!
Definitions
Pump. Very fast gas pumps. You will learn how fast to pump on every track that needs it
Lift. Get off the gas!
Drift. All 4 wheels slide. Known as understeer
Slide. Rear wheels slide out, but front wheels stick.. Known as oversteer
Burp. Very very fast gas pump
Hope this helps!!
