Here are nine sprint skins that I painted. These are skins that I either couldn't find at all, or couldn't find updated versions of, so I decided to paint them myself. I am not out for fame or glory or notoriety, so you can do as you please with them. My name is nowhere to be found on the skins. I just do this because I enjoy it, and maybe will help someone else along the way. However, if you make money off of these skins, please feel free to share. I'll glady accept. I am currently working on a few more, which I will post later, and also some WoO LateModels. If you like them and would like to request a skin you are free to do so, but I will not promise anything. I love doing it, but the truth is that I just don't have a whole lot of time for it. So if you request a skin and do not receive a response OR a skin, please don't be offended.
As for the skins themselves, they will require a slight bit of editing on your part. As you are probably aware, there is a variety of sprint chassis' available out there. Some of them come with disclaimers about not using them without permission etc. I'm not sure if this actually applies to just a skin that will be used with the chassis, but I have no interest in being sued over a $5 computer game, so these skins are not specific to any particular chassis. You will need to enter the name of the sprint chassis you use.
To do this, go to your *:\*\DirtTrack Racing 2\ data\cars\whatever your sprint chassis is named folder, and open the car.str file. If you have never opened a .str file, Windows will ask what program you want to open it with. I personally use Notepad, but any text editor will do. Once the file is open, you will see entries similar to the following at the top of the file:
de2 filename = car.de2
shadow filename = shadow.de2
high res texture name = 512texture
low res texture name = 256texture
class = This is the name of the chassis
chassis damage resistance = 0.500000
In the example above I have substituted the actual name of the chassis (after class = ) with the term, "This is the name of the chassis". This term will obviously not be in your file, but it will instead be something like, Sprint Car, or WoO Sprint Car or whatever. This is the name of your chassis. You need to copy it. Now open the skin.str file in one of my skin folders. Here, you will see the following at the top of the file:
car = Paste Your Chassis Type Here
specular = 0.250000
Delete "Paste Your Chassis Type Here" (do not delete car = ), and paste the name of your chassis that you copied from your car.str file. Save the file and exit, and repeat this process in each one of my other skin.str files. Once the name of your chassis is copied to the clipboard, you do not need to re-copy it from the car.str file each time. Just open each skin.str file and copy it over "Paste Your Chassis Type Here".
I don't know how to explain this any more clearly or in any greater detail. If you have problems, you may want to post a question on one of the forums. I will try to answer any questions sent to me, but may not be able to right away. Happy Dirt Slinging!!!
